Donations to ADRA are specifically to help the Adventist Development & Relief Agency respond to community needs in Haiti. This international organization is very active in Haiti earthquake response and is partnering with the World Food Program. Click here for a “By the Numbers” list of ADRA’s response.

ADRA ALERT: Haiti: ADRA Joins UN in Largest Food Distribution Effort Since Disaster

>>A massive food distribution scale-up is underway in Haiti to provide food to more than 2 million people in some of the most affected areas of Port-au-Prince, announced the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA). ADRA expects to feed 10,200 people per day by providing 1,700 food rations. Each ration includes 55 pounds (25 kilograms) of rice and can feed up to six people for several days. As part of the food distribution strategy, only women are being allowed into the distributions sites to receive food. This will help ensure that the food is redistributed equitably among families, according to the UN World Food Programme (WFP). At the end of the 15-day distribution, ADRA will have provided food to 153,000 Haitians.

ADRA: The Weight of Waiting

>>Luciane is one of nearly 15,000 people who have sought refuge on the grounds of Haitian Adventist University in Carrefour. Earthquake survivors, who have lost or are very frightened to enter their heavily cemented homes, immediately flooded the open space of the university grounds, setting up makeshift homes of tarps and blankets. Without delay, ADRA began arriving with food and within hours had installed systems to provide clean drinking water.

>>When Rusty Garrison and five fellow Department of Natural Resources officers arrived in Haiti last week, they were prepared to see death and massive destruction. What they weren’t prepared for was the large-scale disorder that left hundreds of children without access to food or water. Garrison’s group teamed up with Adventist Development and Relief Agency, which had a warehouse full of food and water. He said workers with ADRA turned the warehouse over to Garrison’s crew, who then organized the warehouse and managed the delivery of the supplies. >>A massive food distribution scale-up is underway in Haiti to provide food to more than 2 million people in some of the most affected areas of Port-au-Prince, announced the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA). ADRA expects to feed 10,200 people per day by providing 1,700 food rations. Each ration includes 55 pounds (25 kilograms) of rice and can feed up to six people for several days. As part of the food distribution strategy, only women are being allowed into the distributions sites to receive food. This will help ensure that the food is redistributed equitably among families, according to the UN World Food Programme (WFP). At the end of the 15-day distribution, ADRA will have provided food to 153,000 Haitians.
